Understanding Operating Systems

A technology coordinator in a Pinellas County school is required to have considerable working knowledge of computer operating systems used in the school (e.g. MS DOS, Mac OS and Windows). To acquire that knowledge the technology coordinator must continue to grow professionally. He or she must attend ongoing training pertinent to curriculum and technology integration and network management. Attendance at district technology events, training meetings and technology conferences and seminars keeps the technology coordinator abreast of new developments in instructional technology,

Relationship Between Hardware, Software and Peripherals

A technology coordinator is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware, software and related peripherals. He or she must maintain hardware and arrange for its timely repair. Additionally, the technology coordinator configures local workstations as needed and maintains an inventory of hardware, software and peripherals. The technology coordinator has numerous resources to call upon within the Office of Instructional Technology (ITECH), including his or her Instructional User Support Analyst, his or her LAN team member, as well as ITECH's SupportWeb . In addition, online assistance is available for each piece of hardware, software and peripheral.

Understanding Troubleshooting Procedures

A technology coordinator is responsible for understanding troubleshooting procedures for hardware and software. Commercial troubleshooting software will allow the technology coordinator to diagnose and repair problems.
