Cinquains

 

Cinquains are good beginning poems because they are easy to do and reinforce a grammar lesson.

  1. Cinquains are 5-line poems.

  2. Cinquains do not rhyme.

  3. The form of a cinquain is:

    1. Line 1 has a single noun. It is usually the same as the title since it is the main topic of the poem.

    2. Line 2 has TWO adjectives describing the main topic.

    3. Line 3 has THREE -ing verbs telling the action of the main topic.

    4. Line 4 is a FOUR-word sentence or phrase telling how the poet feels about the topic.

    5. Line 5 has a synomyn or repeat of Line 1.
