INTRODUCTION

Students and teachers, this web quest is designed to help you make a poetry appreciation book. Your job on this quest is to go to a variety of poetry sites, find poetry that you enjoy, and add it to a poetry book that you can keep. Hopefully this book will grow as your enjoyment of poetry grows. You can, of course, add to this book by writing poetry of your own and by finding it in books as well.

PROCESS

  1. Copy the WORKSHEET and go over the directions.
  2. Begin going to each web site. Complete the worksheet as you find the answers. Using the QAR's (Question Answer Relationships) of the CRISS STRATEGIES, some of these questions will be found in one place. Some of them will be questions where you will find the answers in more than one place within the web site and possibly in more than one web site. Some of the questions will be where you use the information to form an answer of your own. The last type of question will be used only once. It is the type of question where you don't need the web sites at all to answer. It will be your own thoughts completely.
  3. As you complete the worksheet, watch for poetry you want to include in your poetry book. This book can be all on one subject (for example, all animal poems), or it can be a variety. It can be all one poet (for example, Shel Silverstein), or it can be a mixture. It can be all one type (for example, humorous) or not as you want. Remember that you can also include your own poetry, your friends' poetry, or poetry found in books. These you would type or write and decorate.
  4. You can print the poem directly, or copy and paste it onto a word processing document or draw document where you could draw or add clipart or Internet graphics. (See Web Sites for some good free graphics.)
  5. When you have completed the worksheet and found all the poetry, make your poetry book following the direction sheet.
  6. Be ready to share your poetry book with your class and others!
