Brooklyn Dodgers Players WebQuest
Introduction:
The Brooklyn Dodgers were an important team in professional baseball. Not only because of Jackie Robinson but because of the other players. It important to know that all players on a team are important. Working as a team you will make a Hyperstudio presentation describing Jackie Robinson and the other players on the Brooklyn Dodgers.
The Task:
You and your team members will do
research on the internet about the men who played on the Brooklyn Dodgers during
the 1950's. You will look at each individual players history and write a short
description on them . The following information needs to be address in your
description of each player.
1. Their real full name and any nickname they have and how they got it.
2. The position(s) they played.
3. Their batting average and/or any other statistics about them.
4. At least one interesting facts.
The Process:
You will meet with your group and look at the list of players. Then you will divide up the list and during your computer time you will use the web sites given or use one of the search engines posted above your computer to find information on your player. You will write down all information on an index card, making sure the above information is included.
When you and your team members have completed your research you will then brainstorm on how you want your Hyperstudio presentation to look. The presentation must have a Introduction card, a card for each player and summary card about the team, Brooklyn Dodgers.
Each team member will be responsible for turning their research cards into informative paragraph about each of their players. Team members will edit each others writings to correct spelling, punctuation and usage of words. When all players' paragraphs are completed the team will then make a rough draft on how their presentation will look. Using index cards to represent the hyperstudio stack.
After teacher approval of the rough draft the teams will then produce the final copy of their presentation.
Final Product:
The final presentation will be graded on attractiveness, interesting content, and neatness. Use of a Hyperstudio Rubric may be used.
Advice:
It is important to work together. If one person is having difficulties finding a player, helping them is encouraged. You can be as creative as you want on the presentation but remember the presentation is about baseball players.
