LESSON PLAN OVERVIEW AND SUGGESTED ORDER
Power Point Presentation for Boyle's Law Lab Experiment

Power Point Presentation for Ideal Gas Law Experiment

Power Point Presentation for a Formula Mass Determination Lab Experiment

The lesson takes about two weeks and involves three lab experiments, gas law simulations using internet applets, lectures and demonstrations.

  • The Boyle's Law Power Point is an 8 slide presentation demonstrating Boyle's Law using a syringe in a pressurised soda bottle.
  • The Ideal Gas Law Power Point is a 12 slide presentation demonstrating how to determine "R" using the generation of hydrogen.
  • The Formula mass Power Point is a 6 slide presentation demonstrating how to determine the formula mass of a volatile liquid

Great interactive applets. Allows change of temperature, speeds, types of molecules, and more. Use Gas Kinetics, Boyle's Law Model, Gas Particle Speeds, and Maxwell Speed

Good introductory applet. Shows why pressure changes with altitude. Use Ideal Atmosphere

Grading Rubric

This is a 6 level grading rubric with examples of each level.

Grading Rubric for Labs

Data Collection

Data Analysis

Evaluation

Assigning numerical points to the rubrics

Individual rubrics for assessing Data Collection , Data Analysis, and for Evaluation (Interpretation) of results and the lab experiment are provided. A system for assigning numerical points based on the rubric is also included. This rubric is a reformated version of the International Baccalaureate rubric for internal assessment.
