The Task

Design and prepare a two to two and a half minute presentation that accurately reflects the view and opinions of your character. Roles will be assigned in class from a random drawing. You will formulate your position by examining a variety of internet sites using the Resource Links and Search Engine Tips. Be sure to remain true to your role's position, not your personal feelings, whether you agree or not.

Be sure to include the following in the presention; your name and the group you represent, state the TWO main concerns of your group from the following;

Animal use for medical research / experimentation

Animal use for product safety research / experimentation

Use and treatment of livestock animals (cattle, poultry, pigs, etc)

Animal use for food and clothing (including animal by products - eggs, honey, silk, feathers, leather)

Animals as pets (domesticated and exotics)

Animal use in entertainment and sports (zoos, aquariums, sports)

Elaborate on each of the main points by giving at least THREE facts to support EACH concern, and then conclude by asking the audience to help by taking certain actions or steps to help your cause. Be as persuasive as possible!

At least one visual aid such as a chart, graph, picture, mutimedia, or pamphlet must be incorporated into the presentation and you will be rated on how effective the visual is and your effectiveness in using it during the presentation. Use your imagination - think about a clever name and dress the part! Get the audience involved immediately with an attention grabber - a statement or question that prepares the audience for what is coming and peaks their interest. Be inventive and as creative as you like within keeping of your role.

At the end of your presentation turn in your notecards with the two main concerns highlighted in yellow and the three supporting facts highlighted in blue.

You will be take on the role of one of the following people and represent the views from that particular group/organization:
